In the Spring of 1992, a committee composed of faculty, students and parents attended the WISE conference on senior
options. The committee was looking for a culminating senior project that would facilitate seniors' transition from
Croton-Harmon High School to employment or to post high school education. In addition, they were seeking a meaningful
program that would keep the students motivated and engaged throughout the year.
There was a consensus among students and faculty to implement a voluntary senior options program for the class of
1993. The acronym CHOOSE (Croton Harmon Options and Opportunities for a Senior Experience) was selected. In the
fall of 1992, a series of meetings with parents, students, teachers and community members were held to discuss the
ramifications of the program. In the spring of 1993, seniors selected internships and gave their exhibitions in June.
