CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
During the school year, various clubs will be organized according to student interest. All sports and clubs are under the jurisdiction of the school's eligibility policy. At present the following activities are scheduled:
AAMP (Alternative Art, Music & Poetry) Club
The AAMP Club examines the varied movements in art, music, poetry and other forms of literature as they affect our present and future and as they were affected by historical events. The advisor is Ms. Shaw.
AFS (American Field Service)
AFS includes a short-term exchange, some special weekend events, hosting an exchange student or helping individual students to go abroad for a desired amount of time (a summer, a semester or a year). For more information, contact your AFS class representative or the advisor, Mrs. Morrison.
Alliance for Equality
This club is dedicated to the preservation of the human rights and civil liberties of all and addresses issues of race, gender, sexuality, and religion in our modern society. The advisor is Ms. Nigro.
Art Club
This club is for students with an interest in visual art. The students will become involved in school beautification and art exhibitions. The advisor is Ms. Meo.
Big Buddy Program
The primary goals of the program are twofold. The first is to provide a comfortable, easy transition for ninth graders entering the high school; the second is for juniors/seniors to act as positive role models and to demonstrate responsible leadership and empathy for the underclassmen. The advisors are Ms. Viola and Mr. Rosen.
Chess Club
The Chess Club studies chess as a means of developing critical thinking skills. Students participate in a “chess ladder” at Croton-Harmon High School and participate in monthly tournaments. Weekly meetings alternate between chess lessons and game sessions. Meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15pm to 4:15pm in room 311. The advisor is Mr. Spalding.
Class Officers
Officers are elected in the 10th, 11th and 12th grade in the spring of the previous year. The offices of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are directly tied into the CHAP program and the President serves as a class representative to the Student Faculty Congress. Freshmen class officers and representatives are elected in the fall. The advisors are: 9th Grade – Mr. Villani; 10th Grade – Mr. Rosen; 11th Grade – Ms. Morrison; 12th Grade – Mr. Delaney.
Community Service/Leo Club
Students in this club become deeply involved in providing service and assistance to others in the community. Students work through the Lions Club, Croton Caring, Cambridge on the Hudson, the PTA, PVC and others. Students perform varied types of service from raking leaves, serving lunches, tutoring, babysitting, computer assistance, crafting, and entertaining etc. The advisors are Ms. Nigro.
Destination Imagination (formerly Odyssey of the Mind)
Students work together on team challenges. All students are welcome to create a team that can eventually compete on a regional level. The advisor is Ms. Goldberg.
Drama Club
Presents two productions per year: a drama in the fall and a musical in the spring. Advisor is Mr. Bradley.
Environmental Club
This club is designed to raise awareness about local, national and global environmental issues. The advisor is Mr. Ferrara.
Fashion Club
The purpose of this club is to expose interested students to the world of Fashion through a variety of social and educational opportunities. In doing so, we will broaden their understanding of how vast this industry is and how they can explore career options in it. . Doing this will not only nurture their love for the world of fashion but help them to further explore and develop skills needed in future fashion career opportunities hopefully ending with internships for senior year “CHOOSE“ project.

Fashion Art instruction, quarterly fashion professional Guest Speakers, Fashion writing for the school newspaper, creating a CHHS Fashion Club Logo, Field trips into the Garment Industry Visiting showrooms, Fashion schools, Shopping for trims & fabrics as well as attending Fashion Shows & more………

Federal Challenge
The Federal Challenge is an activity that includes decision-making, economic analysis, public speaking and teamwork. The advisor is Mr. Young.
French Club (Le Cercle Français)
The French Club provides members with social opportunities to explore French language and culture through its activities: discussion, games, film, literature and theater, cuisine, etc. Use of the French language is promoted to foster an appreciation for Francophone culture and society. Traditional activities include films, games and contests, holiday celebrations, preparing and enjoying regional foods, occasional outings to restaurants, movie theatres, etc., and a tutoring/enrichment program run by members at PVC. All meetings are held in French, alors si vous parlez français, soyez les bienvenus! The advisors are Dr. Bree and Ms. Rhoades.
Future Business Leaders of America ("FBLA")
FBLA is the largest student organization in the world, which offers members access to innovative leadership and career development programs designed to bring business and education together. Through CHHS FBLA, members gain the competitive edge for college and career success. By taking advantage of the many programs FBLA offers, students acquire the skills that will set them apart from the average high school student. Members learn through participating in a variety of activities that help them build their skills, while contributing to the improvement of the community, the school, and the local FBLA chapter. General Membership Meeting will be held every Thursday @ 3pm in Room 213. Work Sessions will be held every Monday @ 3pm in Room 213. The advisor is Mr. Nardone.
High School Newspaper (Tiger Pause)
A journalism course is offered for students who are interested in writing for the school newspaper. Students enrolled in the course will earn ½ credit. Students who are unable to take the course but who would still like to participate should see the advisor, Ms. Schoenleber.
Humanitarian Aid
Students in this club provide support to such campaigns as UNICEF and the Brick by Brick Foundation. The advisor is Ms. Glazenburg.
Human Rights Task Force
This club focuses on many international, national, and local issues pertaining to human and civil rights. It is a caucus of CHHS students who believe that the purpose of freedom is to safeguard it for others. Our goal is to raise awareness and promote positive action towards this end. The advisor is Mr. Bowden.
Literary Magazine
The Literary Magazine recognizes and publishes noteworthy creative writing and artistic expressions. Students interested in creative writing, artistic illustration, editing, computer layout, and publishing are encouraged to join. The advisor is Ms. Chesser.
Music Television Club
Students direct, shoot and star in their own music videos to songs that they choose. The advisor is Mr. Weinstein.
National Honor Society
Students can apply at the end of their junior year. The club has members across the country and is for seniors who are in the top quarter of their class and who meet strict requirements of character and service to community and who have been recommended by a panel of teachers. The advisors are Mr. Delaney and Mrs. Frisch.
SADD Chapter (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
Our local chapter of this national organization is responsible for educating students, parents, teachers, and community members about alcohol abuse and its lethal effects when people drink and drive. To that end, SADD members develop awareness programs for our entire school community. Ms. Marciano is the SADD advisor.
School Spirit Club
The purpose of the School Spirit Club is to increase school unity. The members of the club take an active role in the Pep Rally and holiday events. The advisors are Ms. Cobb and Ms. Cardellichio.
Shakespeare Club
Members of this club work towards staging an abridged version of a Shakespearian play. The advisor is Mr. Merriam.
Spanish Club
The purpose of the Spanish Club is to provide members with social opportunities to explore Spanish language and culture by promoting enrichment activities such as discussion, games, film, literature, music, cuisine and theater. The advisor is Ms. Ortiz-Shapiro.
Stage Crew
Students build, paint and move sets for school productions. They also provide lighting and technical work. The advisor is Mr. Ferrara.
Yearbook (Tiger Tales)
Photographers, layout staff and writers are always needed. The advisors are Ms. Moore and Ms. Chanowsky.
Note: Other activities may be added where there is sufficient student interest and an interested faculty advisor.
DRIVER EDUCATION
Driver Education is offered in the fall and spring through the Peoples Safety Institute and is administered through the Croton-Harmon School District’s Continuing Education Program. The course includes both the classroom and in-car portions of the New York State Education Department’s mandated Driver Education curriculum.
