Here at PVC we use different databases that the school subscribes to in order to learn and research projects. Any student wishing to access the databases from home can get the username and password information from the Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Fuerst.

 

PVC Databases

EBSCO~Provides access to a wealth of information from the following databases: Middle Search Plus, Masterfile Select, Primary Search, History Reference Center, Newspaper Source, Topicsearch, General Science Collection, Health Source, ERIC, Professional Development Collection, Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia and Ebsco Animals.

Grolier~ Provides access to the following encyclopedias: Encyclopedia Americana, Grolier Multimedia, The New Book of Knowledge in English and Spanish, New Book of Popular Science, Lands and Peoples and America The Beautiful.

Issues and Controversies~ Provides up-to-date articles that cover over 70 topics objectively.

ProQuest~ Provides access to over 4,000 full-text periodicals, adding new materials from new publishers regularly.

Sirs Discoverer~ Provides informative articles from domestic and international magazines, newspapers and government documents. Also includes World Almanac for Kids, Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia, country facts, and presidential & general interest biographies.

Today's Science~ Provides detailed, concise and up-to-date articles on science, health and technology.

Westchester Library System -- Databases ~ With a WLS library card, provides access to over 10 databases including general periodicals, encyclopedias and information about health, authors, biographies, literary criticism, and poetry.
