Message from the Superintendent

Dear Members of the Croton-Harmon School Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our schools.  In these difficult economic times, we remain committed to providing the children with an education that will prepare them to be successful in the world of the 21st century.

The major source of funds to finance schooling is property taxes paid by school district residents and businesses.  This system has been in place for many years.  New York State provides aid to schools, as this is a major responsibility of state government.  Unfortunately, as New York State experiences its own budget crisis, more and more of the burden for the support of schools has shifted from the state onto the shoulders of the local taxpayer.  Revenue to support schools from sources other than the local taxpayer has been declining at an alarming rate.

Reflections from the Board President

Dear Community Members,

As we enter the new calendar year, I would like to thank all of you for your involvement in the education of your children and your input, questions and interest in the school district.  Time moves so quickly, and students and staff have achieved so many great accomplishments already.

Enhancements made to our curriculum, hand in hand with new STEM-D lab facilities, are inspiring innovation and taking our children to new heights of exploration.  Not to be outdone, our extracurricular clubs, fine arts students and athletic teams continue to make us proud with participation and successes in regional events that are putting our school community prominently on the map!  As always, students show their character and compassion through various community service activities, including food and clothing drives to help those less fortunate during the holiday season.
