Superintendent's Corner

Dear Members of the Croton-Harmon School Community:

We are most appreciative of your continued support as we strive to provide the best educational experiences possible for our children.  I would like to provide you with some important information regarding the proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year.

Our proposed budget continues to address two somewhat divergent goals:  to maintain a quality educational program and to create a fiscally responsible budget that is stable and sustainable over more.

Croton-Harmon HS Celebrates Class of 2014

The 152-member graduating class of Croton-Harmon High School gathered on the school’s outdoor field for their commencement exercises on the evening of June 25. Leading the procession of students was the bagpipe band Pipes and Drums Local 21. As Handel’s “Water Music” filled the large white tent, pairs of smiling students paraded down the aisle and onto the stage before an audience of proud family members and friends.

Meet CHHS Valedictorian Marie Syku
Marie Syku didn’t learn English until entering kindergarten. Since then, she has been involved in many extracurricular and community activities. Enrolled in the accelerated math program at CHHS, Marie is on track to earn several college credits when she graduates in June and has taken the school’s most rigorous English program. Earlier this year, she was named an AP Scholar with Honors.

Meet CHHS Salutatorian Brianna Herron
Brianna Herron has a multitude of interests and talents, and an overall desire to learn, particularly in the areas of math and science with a focus on physics. She developed an interest in engineering after participating in an information session during college visits and while taking physics in her junior year. Eager to try new and different things, Brianna was among the first CHHS students to enroll in a blended (online and in-person) college-level computing course offered through Pace University which required her to come to school 45 minutes early, twice a week, to meet with her science teacher.
