Course Description:
The Living Environment is the study of the structure and function of living things and how they interact with the living and non-living things in their environment.
It is a two-year course beginning in the seventh grade. At the end of eighth grade all students will be given the opportunity to take the New York State Regents exam.

Topics for this Year -- 7th Grade

Here are the topics we will be studying this year in 7th Grade Science:

  • The Scientific Method
  • Science Skills: Lab equipment; the Metric System; Graphing
  • Ecology
  • Classification
  • Plants
  • Cells
  • Life Functions
  • Biochemistry, an introduction
  • Protozoa/Microorganisms
  • Introduction to Genetics
Assessment:
Students will be assessed based on tests, quizzes, homework, classwork, projects, laboratory experiments and class participation. It is imperative that all assigned work is completed.

Extra help:

Students should seek help when needed. There will be a sign-up sheet available in the classroom. Also remember that peers are a good resources.
